Quantitative Reasoning (Math)

  • Quantitative Reasoning courses at Lake Washington Institute of Technology provides classes that meet the general education requirements for degrees and certificates at the college. The department offers courses at all levels, from basic math through multi-variable calculus. Students can the take a sequence of courses that best meets the needs of their desired career. We offer a STEM pathway for students interested in science, business, and engineering fields, and a non-STEM pathway for students in other programs.

Students who successfully complete math courses will be able to use the mathematical critical thinking skills of problem-solving, pattern recognition, substitution, following structural rules, and quantitative modeling to solve problems requiring reasoning, critical thinking, and computation. Free supplemental instruction and tutoring services are available for all students.

Students have the opportunity to work with math faculty on undergraduate research projects and present their research at various math conferences in the state. Recent projects involve math as it relates to robotics, DNA, and Borromean rings.
