The Assessment Center at Lake Washington Institute of Technology prepares students for today's careers and tomorrow's opportunities by providing quality testing and assessment services to our students, faculty, staff and community.

Placement Testing

The Assessment Center provides many types of testing and assessments. Some of the main types of testing we offer is Placement Testing, TEAS Testing, and PearsonVue tests.

Register for Placement Tests

 

Guided Self Placement Testing is intended to accurately assess your skills so that we can recommend a class placement in both math and English. Both assessments can be taken online or in-person. Your remote testing appointment will require you have computer access with Wi-Fi.

You may be able to bypass placement testing entirely through your high school transcript, previous college transcripts a recent placement test completed at another state college, or other means. Before registering for a new placement test, determine which college placement is right for you.

You may drop in (no-appointment necessary) to take your placement tests on campus. Stop by the Assessment Center (West Building, W204) with a valid photo ID.Drop- in placement testing hours:

  • Monday
    • Open seating: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Wednesday
    • Open seating: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Thursday
    • Open seating: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

To schedule your remote test, please take the following steps:

  1. Submit an assessment request or Email Assessment@lwtech.edu when you are READY to take the test. Remember, the two tests taken together are intended to take about three hours, so do not begin the test if you do not have that much time available.
  2. You will receive your math score immediately. It will appear at the end of the math test.
  3. English essay scores will be emailed within two business days.

The ATI TEAS test is available to take in-person and remotely. To take your TEAS test on campus, you can register online via our test registration e-form.The remote TEAS test is proctored online using Proctorio. PearsonVUE is back up and running! We are testing in-person on Tuesdays each week! More details will be offered on the PearsonVue websitewhere you can register for a test by choosing "Lake Washington Institute of Technology" as your test center.

 

Additional Assessment Center Services

Before You Test

The following expectations apply to all tests:

  • Current government-issued photo ID is required for all testing
  • You must obtain a LWTech Student ID number at Enrollment Services in the West Building, Room W201, prior to taking your test.
  • If you arrive late for your test, you will need to reschedule.
  • Please make arrangements for childcare, as children are not allowed in the Assessment Center.
  • Food or beverages are not allowed in the Assessment Center.
  • All personal belongings need to be stored in lockers just outside of the Assessment Center.
  • No hats or headphones may be worn in the Assessment Center.

Testing for Students with Disabilities 

The Assessment Center at Lake Washington Institute of Technology offers accommodated testing for students with disabilities.

Accommodated Testing Scheduling

If you would like to request for disability accommodations for testing please contact the Disabilities Support Services office. The required lead time for requests to be processed varies depending on the type of test.

  • Guided Self Placement & TEAS: 1-2 weeks in advance of planned test date
  • CLEP: 2-4 weeks in advance of planned test date

After your accommodations are approved, you will need to contact the Assessment Center to make atesting appointment. Accommodated testing appointments are usually offered on the first Friday of each month. Depending on the type of accommodations needed, an appointment may be necessary for the Guided Self Placement test. If so, a DSS coordinator will arrange this with the Assessment Center.
