Canvas
Canvas works with the latest versions of major web browsers; check to make sure that your browser is compatible with Canvas and your computer or mobile device meets the minimum specifications for Canvas. We recommend using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. Using Edge or Internet Explorer is NOT recommended. Keep your browser up-to-date, purge its cache regularly, and allow popups for Canvas.

Online Courses
LWTech's classes use online tools to enhance teaching and learning. There are three ways your classes might utilize online learning:
- Online Courses are held entirely online with no face-to-face classroom time. Online courses require the same amount of work as campus courses. They include scheduled assignments and exams and are not "self-paced." Some online courses require students to meet online in web conferences at scheduled times.
- Hybrid Courses use online technologies to replace some, but not all, face-to-face classtime. There
is no exact formula: some hybrid classes replace one weekly class session with online
work. Others only hold in-person meetings a few times per quarter. Students must attend
all scheduled face-to-face sessions.
- Web-enhanced courses are face-to-face classes that meet on campus at scheduled times and use online technologies for additional interaction or sharing course materials. Online classwork in Canvas does not replace face-to-face class meetings: students must attend all scheduled classroom sessions.
Quarterly courses that are fully online or hybrid can be found in the Course Schedule by choosing Fully Online or Partly Online in the Location dropdown box.
eLearning Technologies
- Canvas is a learning management system, which provides all classes at LWTech with an online
platform for teaching and learning.
- Blackboard Ally is available all Canvas courses. Blackboard Ally is an accessibility checker that will help you improve your Canvas courses by identifying accessibility issues and providing an explanation of any problems it detects. It will help you resolve accessibility issues, too.
- Canvas Studio is a communication tool fully integrated in Canvas, that allows instructors and students to actively collaborate through video and audio media. Studio allows you to capture your lecture using both webcam and screen capture. It also has built in features for quizzing, comments, and insights.
- Panopto is a presentation recording tool located within Canvas courses. Panopto can record lectures or presentations with audio, video from a webcam, and your computer screen. It can also be used as a portal for hosting videos created outside of Panopto. Creators can set permissions that determine who is able to view the videos.
