Student Organizations

Student organizations are an important component of a college experience, and Office of Student Life is excited to help you expand your student life experience by engaging with you and supporting your learning journey.

Student organization are chartered through the Associated Student Government (ASG), which means the ASG student officers decide to officially recognize the student org and provide its funding. Funding for student orgs come from the Services and Activities Fee.

The college is committed to a healthy and wellness oriented student org experience. Therefore, student org officers, members, or advisors, may not participate in or sponsor any activities which feature alcohol or drugs, including marijuana.

Join a Student Organization

The Canvas course is a resource for students to learn more about clubs, create discussions, ask questions, gather leadership materials and more. You can stay up to date on student org meeting information on the canvas course. If you would like to know more about previously chartered groups, you can find that information the the canvas course.

Start A Student Organization

The New Student Organization application asks you to includes the following:

  • Statement of purpose for the club
  • Outlining expected activities and events
  • Identifying students who will lead the club (officers).

Things to keep in mind about a new club:

  • Your club's purpose must align with the mission, vision, and/or purpose of LWTech and the Associated Student Government (ASG).
  • Club membership is for currently enrolled LWTech students
  • Club officers are responsible for holding some meetings throughout the quarter, and possibly an event.

All new officers, club members, or chosen members will attend the funding and policies workshops before they may access any funding or purchase any supplies. There will be other supportive workshops such as event planning, leadership, and more.

Workshops are held in the RISE Center E128 conference room.

Upcoming workshops:

  • Please contact clubs@lwtech.edu for current training topics, including dates and times.

Trainings can be provided on appointment basis if student leaders cannot attend the scheduled days and times.
