Application Deadlines

Qualified students accepted on a rolling basis until the program is filled; early applications are encouraged by the following preferred deadlines:

Applications submitted after the deadline will automatically be considered for the next quarter start.

How to Apply to the BAS Public Health Program

  1. If you have not taken classes at LWTech, you must first apply online for admission to LWTech.
  2. Order official transcript(s) from colleges you have attended and have them sent to LWTech. For more information on sending transcripts visit the transferring to LWTech page.

Locating the online Public Health Application

After applying for Admission to LWTech and requesting your transcripts from other colleges to be sent to LWTech, you are ready to apply to the BAS Public Health program.

The Public Health BAS application is an online application. Each program's Selective Admissions form is unique to their program, so be sure you're filling out the correct form.

Application Requirements

  • Applied Associate Degree, or equivalent, from an accredited institution.
  • Degree equivalency is defined as the completion of at least 90 college-level quarter credits at an accredited institution (or international equivalent).
  • Personal essay
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA cumulative across all college coursework.
  • Two recommendation forms attesting to the student's ability to succeed at the baccalaureate level.

Required Courses for Application

The listed requirements must be met before filling out the admission application for the BAS in Public Health program

  • Completion of at least 30 credits of college-level General Education courses with a minimum of a 2.0 GPA in each class as follows:
  • ENGL& 101 English Composition I (or equivalent) - 5 credits
  • Any English class above ENGL&101 or any Communications (CMST) course - 5 credits
  • MATH& 146 Introduction to Statistics (or equivalent) - 5 credits
  • Social Sciences - 10 credits
  • BIOL& 175 Human Biology with Lab (or equivalent) or BIOL& 242 Anatomy and Physiology II (or equivalent) - 5 credits

Students must have 15 credits of the above courses completed at the time of admission. Students who have courses to complete at the time of admission may be admitted conditionally.

Personal Essay

Public Health BAS applicants must upload a personal essay. Upload your essay document under the Essay tab in the application.

  • Essays should exhibit effective communication skills consistent with work in Public Health.
  • Essay question responses are evaluated on content, clarity of message, grammar and spelling.
  • Your essay question responses must:
    • Be typed
    • Address all parts of each question
    • Be double-spaced
    • You have a minimum of one page and a maximum of two pages.
  • Please note: Any evidence of plagiarism or academic dishonesty in your application materials will render your application unacceptable and all materials will be forwarded to the conduct officer for review and possible adjudication.

Essay: Question option #1

In the BASPH program, students will have the opportunity to work in groups on projects similar to what they would experience in a work environment in the field. Please write a brief statement addressing both the benefits you have experienced, and the challenges you have faced working/collaborating with groups that are both culturally and professionally diverse in membership.

Essay: Question option #2

Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma – anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.

Submitting Your Application

Once your application is completed, make sure to click the Submit Application button on the last page. If you do not submit, your application is considered incomplete and will not be reviewed.

Checking Application Status

You will receive an admissions decision within 5 weeks after the deadline from the Selective Admissions Office. You can check on the progress of your admission decision status by logging into your Self-Service Center. Requirement status will be updated manually, when admission staff process and verifies your application documents

Application Decision Status

The final decision status will be available on your online account. You can check decision status by logging into your Self-Service Center. To accept the offer of admission, you must return an accept/decline form. Click Respond in the top-right of this letter and submit online. If you experience any difficulty with this form, please email selective.admission@lwtech.edu or call (425) 739-8104 to get assistance.

Transferring Credits To LWTech

  • Academic classes can only be accepted from accredited institutions.
  • Due to high demand for evaluation services, students are encouraged to submit official transcripts at the time they apply to LWTech.
  • Evaluation results will be available 2 - 4 weeks after the receipt of official transcripts.
  • The results of the evaluation can be viewed by viewing your Degree Progress for your current program of study.
  • Email selective.admission@lwtech.edu if your transcript is not received or evaluated after 4 weeks.

Paying for College

Apply for financial aid, the most common applications are the FAFSA and the WASFA. To learn more visit the Pay for College page.

Financial Aid takes significant time to process; please apply early before you apply to the program so that you are not delayed in receiving funding.
