Application Requirements

  • Applicants must have earned an Applied Associate Degree, or equivalent, from an accredited institution in a design-related discipline – Design, Art, or Information Technology related discipline (for example digital game design, multimedia, graphic design, art, or computer programming).

Gaming Portfolio

Students must submit a Portfolio containing 5-7 examples of their best gaming-related work. This can contain pieces from college courses, professionally commissioned designs, or pieces made for this application. Portfolio should include imaghe list with title, media, size, and date created for all included artworks. The selection committee will not review more than 7 pieces. Portfolios will be scored up to 3 points in each of the following categories, with up to 40 points possible. Applicants must score a minimum of 12 points on the Portfolio to qualify for full admission.

Required Courses for Application

The following requirements must be met before filling out the admission application for the Digital Gaming & Interactive Media BAS program:

  • Completion of at least 60 quarter credits of discipline-related coursework in Design, Art, Information Technology, or equivalent. 
  • Completion of at least 30 credits of college-level Academic Core prerequisite courses with a minimum 2.0 GPA in each of the following classes:
    • ENGL&101 or equivalent
    • College-level Social Sciences
    • College-level Quantitative Reasoning: Math& 107 or college-level math course with Intermediate Algebra as its prequisite.
  • ART 121 Intro to Drawing or equivalent
  • ART 102 Design 1 or equivalent
  • ART 203 Intermediate Drawing or equivalent
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA cumulative across all college coursework.
  • You may be in progress with some of these courses and be considered for conditional admission on a space-available basis.

Summer Bridge

  • Completion of 12 credits of Digital Gaming and Interactive Media courses. Courses may be in-progress or completed with a 2.0 or higher prior to the Fall BAS classes:
  • GAME 111 Intro to Programming for Games (or CSD 110 Computer Programming Fundamentals with Python or CSD 111 Computer Programming Fundamentals) 4-5 credits
  • GAME 124 Introduction to 3D with Maya 4 credits
  • GAME 127 Game Mechanics 1 4 credits
  • Students who cannot complete these classes (or transfer equivalent) by the first day of Fall 2024 are not eligible for admission but are encouraged to apply for the next academic year.

Online Application

Once your application is completed, make sure to click the Submit Application button on the last page. If you do not submit your application, the application is considered incomplete and will not be reviewed.

 

Checking Application Status

You can check on your application status by logging into the Self-Service Center. Decisions are posted in the Self-Service Center and will be emailed to you via your LWTech student email.

If you are offered admission, you must complete and submit a form to accept the offer of admission. Instructions will be emailed to you with your application decision.

 

Application Decision Status

The final decision status will be available on your online account. You can check decision status by logging into your Self-Service Center. To accept the offer of admission, you must return an accept/decline form. Click Respond in the top-right of this letter and submit online. If you experience any difficulty with this form, please email email Selective Admission or call (425) 739-8104 to get assistance.

 

Transferring Credits To LWTech

Selective Admission Programs require Official Transcripts from every college where you took any required classes. If you have an International Transcript, we are happy to accept the Course-by-Course Evaluation from an evaluation agency.  You can find additional information on our Transferring to LWTech page.

Note: You do not need to request Official Transcripts if you took all your classes at LWTech.

Digital Gaming and Interactive Media Information & Advising Planning Session

This interactive information session will provide students the opportunity to learn about the LWTech Digital Gaming & Interactive Media BAS admission process. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions about the admissions process, bring their transcripts for an initial evaluation, and create a tentative academic plan outlining their pre-requisites in preparation for applying to the Digital Gaming and Interactive Media BAS program.
