Accreditation
Lake Washington Institute of Technology is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities at the associate degree level and at the baccalaureate level.

Application Deadlines
Qualified students accepted on a rolling basis until the program is filled; early applications are encouraged by preferred deadline above.

Rolling Admission process will be used for applications received after May 20, 2025.
Locating the Application
The Design BAS application is an online application. Each program's Selective Admission form is unique to their program, so be sure you're filling out the correct form.

Application Requirements
- Applicants must have earned an Applied Associate Degree, or equivalent, from an accredited institution with a minimum of 60 quarter credits or equivalent in an appropriate technical area of concentration or a design-related discipline.
- Design portfolio with five to seven projects.
- Minimum 2.0 GPA cumulative across all college coursework.
Required Courses for Application
The following requirements must be met before filling out the admission application for the Design BAS program:
- Minimum of 60 quarter credits in an appropriate technical area of concentration or a design-related discipline.
- Minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA across all college coursework
- Completion of at least 30 credits of college-level General Education prerequisite courses with a minimum 2.0 GPA in each of the following classes:
- English Composition: 5 credits (ENGL&101 or equivalent)
- Social Sciences: 5 credits
- Humanities: 10 credits (College level course: drawing, Art History, and design-related courses preferred)
- Quantitative Reasoning: 5 credits (Any college-level math course with Intermediate Algebra as its prerequisite, or higher)
- Science: 5 credits (Any college-level science course with lab)
Submitting Your Application
Once your application is completed, make sure to click the Submit Application button on the last page. If you do not submit your application, the application is considered incomplete and will not be reviewed.
Checking Application Status
You can check on your application status by logging into the Self-Service Center.
Decisions are posted in the Self-Service Center and will be emailed to you via your
LWTech student email.
If you are offered admission, you must complete and submit a form to accept the offer
of admission. Instructions will be emailed to you with your application decision.
Application Decision Status
The final decision status will be available on your online account. You can check decision status by logging into your Self-Service Center. To accept the offer of admission, you must return an accept/decline form. Click Respond in the top-right of this letter and submit online. If you experience any difficulty with this form, please email email Selective Admission or call (425) 739-8104 to get assistance.
Transferring Credits To LWTech
Selective Admission Programs require Official Transcripts from every college where
you took any required classes. If you have an International Transcript, we are happy
to accept the Course-by-Course Evaluation from an evaluation agency. You can find
additional information on our Transferring to LWTech page.

Paying for College
For help with Financial Aid or other funding options, please visit the Pay for College page. Financial Aid takes significant time to process; please apply early before you apply
to the program so that you are not delayed in receiving funding.
Design BAS Information Session
These helpful sessions present an overview of the Design program and explain the admission process. Attendance is highly recommended for all applicants.
All information sessions are in-person at this time. Attending in person is highly recommended.
