Applied Bachelor's Degrees
Many associate degree programs offered at Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) are designed to prepare students for careers and to continue their education. Many students transfer after earning their associate degree at LWTech to colleges and universities to complete their bachelor's degree. Students also have the option to stay at LWTech to complete their applied bachelor's degree. Currently LWTech offers applied bachelor's degrees in 11 fields. More are coming soon! Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Management - Entrepreneurship
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Management – Entrepreneurship program is offered online, providing students with a flexible and convenient way to earn their degree. Graduates of the program are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to start and operate their own small business or work as independent contractors/consultants. Additionally, students who already possess an associate degree in a technical field can use this program to develop the management skills necessary to become managers in their respective fields. Graduates may also choose to pursue a Master's degree in related business management majors to further advance their careers.
Bachelor of Applied Science Applied Management - Human Resource Management
The Bachelor of Applied Science Applied Management - Human Resource Management program prepares students to enter the rapidly changing field of business management with a special focus on Human Resource competencies. Graduates will be prepared to lead organizational efforts in today’s world and create progressive best workplaces to harness the potential of their human talent using their expertise to assist with the attraction, engagement/productivity, and retention of talent.
Bachelor of Applied Science in Behavioral Healthcare
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Behavioral Healthcare program equips students with the knowledge and skills required for the treatment of mental illness, substance abuse disorders, poverty, homelessness, and physical illnesses. Students gain a deeper understanding of integrated treatment methodologies, evidence-based practices, and effective communication strategies. Graduates of the program will be prepared to work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, mental health clinics, substance abuse treatment centers, and social service agencies. With opportunities to advance in their careers or pursue graduate degrees, students are well-equipped to make a difference in the lives of those struggling with behavioral health issues.
Bachelor of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and clinical skills required to become successful dental hygienists. Students will receive a comprehensive education in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective skills necessary for their future career through training in patient education, oral health assessments, preventative and therapeutic interventions, and life-long learning skills. Graduates of the program are equipped to pursue a career in a variety of settings, such as private practices, community health clinics, public health departments, and education institutions.
Bachelor of Applied Science in Design
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Design degree program is designed to advance your design career. It will prepare you to lead and collaborate with teams of creative and technical professionals. You'll study advanced design theory, the business of design, entrepreneurship, project management, design thinking, and new processes for design industry best practice.
Graduates will be prepared to function as small business owners, as independent contractors or consultants, or for supervisory positions in their technical field.
Bachelor of Applied Science in Digital Gaming & Interactive Media
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Digital Gaming & Interactive Media is the only program like it offered by a public community or technical college in Washington state. Students work collaboratively in teams that simulate the digital game development workplace. They get extensive hands-on experience in game design, animation, virtual reality, and program management. In addition to digital game design, students will gain interactive media skills, preparing them to work as an interactive media designer in a wide range of industries, including: healthcare, aerospace, transportation, and more.
Bachelor of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education offered by many institutions provides students with advanced skills and knowledge required to take up leadership roles in the field. Students who complete the AAS program can further enhance their careers by enrolling in this program. As Early Childhood Education plays a critical role in shaping a child's early years, individuals in leadership roles are expected to possess strong communication, leadership, and management skills to positively impact young children's futures. The Bachelor of Applied Science in Applied Art - Illustration at Lake Washington Institute of Technology is a comprehensive program designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue a successful career in the applied arts industry. Through a combination of visual and digital arts courses, students will gain a breadth of learning that prepares them for various job opportunities. During the third and fourth years of study, students will refine their portfolios and complete advanced courses in both visual and digital arts, allowing them to direct their skills towards their desired career path.
Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Technology: Computing and Software Development
Students earning the Computing & Software Development applied bachelor’s degree engage in an intense two-year program with a cohort of peers to gain practical computer science skills. They work in a hands-on classroom environment designing and testing various types of mobile apps and software. Students will be prepared to work for a variety of companies, or as independent contractors, designing and supporting software in a wide array of industries.
Bachelor of Applied Science in Public Health
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Public Health is designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue careers in public health. Bachelor of Applied Science in Transportation, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Transportation, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management degree trains students for management positions in a growing industry, meeting the demand for skilled managers with quantitative, computer, critical thinking, and negotiation skills. It's ideal for those interested in Operations or Supply Chain Management. LWTech is Washington State's sole provider of this comprehensive bachelor's degree, catering to associate degree holders seeking educational advancement.
Non-Matriculated Status
The following procedures and guidelines can be found in the Policies and Procedures Manual, Chapter 5, Student Services, in section the 5.P.02 Admission, under Procedures, Forms, and Documents.
Non-matriculated status is designed for students who want to take upper division courses for credit:
- Without earning a degree or certificate.
- Before deciding whether or not to apply to the program in the future.
When enrolled under a non-matriculated status:
- Students cannot earn a degree or certificate.
- A grade is earned and full credit awarded and recorded on the LWTech transcript.
- Earned credits may transfer to other institutions.
If non-matriculated students decide to seek regular admission to the program, they must complete all steps in the admission process and will be evaluated and ranked equally with all other applicants. Non-matriculated status does not guarantee future admission to the program.
Non-Matriculated Status: How to Enroll
The student is responsible for:
- Receiving written permission (either via email or a signature on a registration form) from both the program dean or associate dean and the faculty member for the class.
- Bringing the signed registration form (or attaching the email to a registration form) to the Enrollment Services Office in West 201 between the first and fifth business day of the quarter (If the dean and faculty member grant permission to add the class earlier than the first day of the quarter, they will have both specified this in writing via email and this will be honored by the Enrollment Services Office).
- Paying all tuition and fees before the fifth business day of the quarter.
Limits on Non-Matriculated Enrollment
Requests for non-matriculated enrollment are considered on a space-available basis after all on-time and complete matriculated applicants have been reviewed.
Non-matriculated students cannot register until the first day of classes. Consequently, class selection may be limited.
If a student is then accepted into a matriculated status at LWTech, up to 15 credits earned as a non-matriculated student may be applied to degree or certificate requirements.
Non-matriculated Status: Exception to GPA requirements for Non-matriculated Students
Students who take the maximum 15 credits of classes in non-matriculated status that can be counted towards degree or certificate requirements AND earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 across those 15 credits may be exempted from the minimum 2.5 GPA requirement to be eligible to apply to a baccalaureate program.
