Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) awards Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees and Associate of Applied Science-Transfer (AAS-T) degrees for completion of a technical program of study. These degrees offer a combination of technical courses and required general education courses in written communication, quantitative reasoning, social science, and humanities. The AAS-T degrees require a natural science course with lab and many include additional transferable general education courses compared to the AAS degrees.
These degrees are built upon the technical courses that prepare students for jobs in specific industries. The requirements of this degree are created largely by the people in the industry who serve on Advisory Committees here at LWTech. The focus of these degrees is to meet the demands of the workforce, but each one has at least one articulation agreement so that students still have transfer opportunities either here at LWTech or at other colleges. Many of these degrees transfer to LWTechโs bachelors of applied science programs.
