Welcome to the Office of International Programs and Global Education at Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech). We welcome international students from all over the world. Currently, there are students from 23 countries studying at our campus! Our international students come from diverse backgrounds and bring a variety of experiences, which adds to LWTech’s strong sense of community and commitment to globalization.

This is an exciting time to be a student at LWTech. With over 40 areas of study, students can earn associate and bachelor degrees in a variety of academic fields, as well as getting High School Diploma and Intensive English training. We also have Direct Transfer Agreements (DTA) with many Washington State universities and colleges, which allows you to transfer to them as a junior. We invite you to explore our programs and degree options here .

Our mission is to prepare students for today’s careers and tomorrow’s opportunities. LWTech provides multiple pathways for students to achieve their educational goals.

The Office of International Programs and Global Education is committed to helping international students fulfill their educational goals.  We provide support services with admissions, orientation to the college, academic advising, and immigration advising as well as a variety of services, workshops, and activities that support students throughout all phases of their academic journey.

We highly value international students and the perspectives that you bring to our campus. We look forward to getting to know you, and in the meantime, get to know us by reading our staff bios.

Accreditation

LWTech is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) at the associate degree level and at the baccalaureate degree level. NWCCU is the same organization that accredits universities. The credits students earn at LWTech are equivalent to those earned at accredited universities in the area.

Affordable Tuition

Our tuition is much more affordable compared to bigger universities.

Optional Practical Training

Optional Practical Training (OPT) is a one-year full-time off-campus employment authorization issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT is only available one time at each level of education. Therefore, students who obtain a four-year degree, can only be authorized one time in four years. However, students who obtain an associate degree first can be authorized one time at the associate degree level and another time at the bachelor's degree level. As a result, they can have a total of two years of authorized off-campus employment.

Time to Choose a Four-Year College or University

By starting at LWTech, students who are interested in obtaining graduate degrees or exploring a broader range of bachelor's degrees will have approximately two years to research and explore all of their options!

Support Services
Our staff has a deep passion for international education. We all celebrate diversity and value each of our international students' unique cultures! More importantly, we are dedicated to helping our students succeed both academically and professionally.
